Late Term Abortion in Alabama

Alabama has been under the spotlight lately for passing an extreme abortion law - the "Alabama Human Life Protection Act". This law makes it a felony to have an abortion at any gestation unless the mother's life is at risk or there is a "lethal anomaly". If you are seeking a late-term abortion in Alabama, Capital Women's Group may be able to help you. The reality is that late term abortion care is not available in Alabama because of the state's laws.

Although this law has passed, it has not taken effect yet. Even without the new law in place, you still cannot get an abortion after a certain point in the second trimester. If you need an abortion past 21 weeks in Alabama, there are only a handful of providers that can help you, and there are even fewer providers if you need an abortion past 24 weeks. But we are ready to help women from Alabama who need a later abortion - whether a late second trimester abortion or even a third trimester abortion.

Additionally, if you are a minor in Alabama, the state law requires that you have parental consent. Capital Women's Group does not require any consent from a parent or guardian for any woman seeking late term abortion care.

Washington, DC does not have the same legal restrictions as Alabama, so abortions are legal here up to any gestation - even up to 36 weeks. This means that Capital Women's Group may be able to help you in getting late term abortion care.

Our doctors are all board-certified Ob/Gyns who are all experienced abortion providers and who have all held medical school faculty positions and full admitting privileges at university hospitals. Under certain circumstances, we can offer later term abortion care to Alabama women, and we can offer such late 2nd trimester abortion care and 3rd trimester abortion care in either in a university hospital or in our outpatient facility.
